How does it work?
After contacting me by phone or email, I will offer a free 15-20-minute initial consultation via video call or phone. The aim of this meeting is to understand the nature of your current difficulties, agree on the terms of business, and assess whether working together feels like a good fit.
At the end of this first meeting, we can decide whether we wish to start working together. If so, we can arrange our first session.
What happens in our sessions?
During our first session, we will take time to explore what has brought you to therapy at a pace that feels manageable for you. I will listen carefully and invite reflection through questions and observations, helping you make sense of your experiences, patterns, and relationships, both past and present.
Our work is always collaborative. I will support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself and in realising where choice may be possible. At times, we may gently explore how familiar ways of relating or coping were shaped. As we reflect and sometimes use visualisation together, new ways of understanding can begin to emerge. Please see the "working together" section for more ideas about how I work.
Would I be given homework?
I may occasionally suggest gentle ways to continue reflecting between sessions, such as journaling or simple breathing practices. These are always optional and offered in collaboration with you, based on what feels helpful and manageable.
At times, if it feels appropriate, I may also invite you to try relating to others or responding differently in specific situations to explore and create new possibilities. However, there is never any pressure. We can move at a pace that feels right for you.
Are our sessions confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is kept private, and your contact details are never shared. I operate in line with GDPR and ICO guidelines to protect your privacy. There are some confidentiality limits, which I will explain in our first session. If you tell me you might be at risk or that someone else might be in danger, I am legally required to act. However, I will always discuss any steps with you first.
My practice is also informed by the ethical and professional standards of BACP and UKATA, ensuring that therapy takes place within a safe, respectful, and confidential framework.
How long are sessions?
Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually weekly. At times, we may negotiate fortnightly sessions, but I would always invite you to attend regularly so that we can observe a meaningful shift together.
How much do sessions cost?
Sessions are £55. I also offer a small number of concessionary spaces for those who might otherwise find therapy difficult to access, and I am happy to discuss this with you.
Payment is by bank transfer before each session, and I will send my details before our first appointment.
How many sessions will I need?
There isn’t a simple or fixed answer to this, as it depends on what brings you to therapy and how you experience the work. For many people, it can take more than one or two sessions to feel settled and to make sense of what is happening beneath the surface.
Some clients come for a brief period and find this beneficial, while others choose to work longer-term and see therapy as an ongoing space for reflection and support. Rather than deciding this in advance, we will stay in dialogue about how the work is feeling for you, so you can make informed choices about continuing at a pace that feels right.
